Sowing the Seeds of Community

Portland Community Realty, LLC  (PCR) is a social enterprise company formed to help community groups initiate, fund, and implement community projects that improve the sustainability, livability, and economic vitality of their neighborhoods.

PCR partners with neighborhood volunteers, non-profits, and governmental entities to help grow healthy communities.  PCR achieves this through the sale of real estate, donating 10% of net sale proceeds to the local, not-for-profit sponsors of neighborhood projects. In addition, PCR assists with certain projects by offering additional resources such as staff time and technical assistance, based on need and merit.

PCR was formed by Kristina Lake, a real estate veteran of 9 years.  Kris has a background in commercial real estate development, where she gained a solid knowledge base in project management, leasing, and asset management.  She now works in residential, investment, and commercial sales and leasing.  In addition to her real estate work, Kris has been a Portland neighborhood advocate and volunteer of more than four years.  Through her community work, Kris has succeeded in opening up pathways for community participation, improving internal and external communications strategies for community groups, and helped implement a community farmers’ market and a public art project in an underserved neighborhood.  She is now working on a project to start a cooperative grocery store in outer Southeast Portland.  Kris earned a Bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University in Business Administration/Marketing.

Jeffrey Rose serves as Neighborhood Outreach Coordinator for PCR.  Jeff is educated in urban planning issues, and has also been a community advocate and volunteer of four years.  Jeff has been successful in inspiring community participation through the creation of online forums and listservs.  Jeff is skilled at identifying the root obstacles which stand in the way of community livability, and then proposing solutions to neighborhood and governmental leaders.  Jeff has worked on a wide range of projects including the removal of drug paraphernalia from convenience stores, obtaining an MTIP transportation grant, habitat restoration, and SOLV clean-ups.  He is now working on the development of a cooperative grocery store in outer SE Portland.  Jeff is completing his degree in Psychology from Portland State University.
